My name is Cassie. Wife to Alex. Mom to Sam.

When Sam was 4 months old he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer. This blog became my outlet to share, vent, keep people informed, and document our lives throughout his treatment.

When Sam finished treatment this project sort of fell to the wayside. I'm making an effort revive this space and to start documenting those everyday moments again!

We love God.
We love each other.

Gearing Up for the Last Scheduled Admission

First off... we met with First Steps today. Sam has been eating really well and we agreed that he no longer needs services so he was discharged from First Steps! Exciting stuff!

We had clinic this morning to get cleared for Sam's last scheduled admission next week. It went well and his counts looked great. We also got to visit with Sam's buddy Matthew who was there for his last dose of chemo! Woot! It's so nice that we're finishing things up at the same time and I hope to get the boys together for normal boy time.

We don't want to get ahead of ourselves but we asked when we could expect to get his central line taken out. Dr. Cheerva said hopefully we can have it removed after his next scans. I would loooove for those scans to be clear. Oh, man would I freakin' love that. He'll be finished with the accutane in September and he can have his NJ tube out then. And that's it. No more treatment. We'll just scan every three months and pray diligently.

Pray that next week goes quickly and easily. Pray that Sam will be cancer free. And pray that we can close this chapter of our lives and move on into a new normal and long-term cancer survivorship.

How long does someone who has had cancer have to be in remission for before they are considered to be cured??
