diaper covers and shower invites

We received our first official baby purchases in the mail. Aside from the few things we bought in order to break the baby news to Alex's family, Alex hasn't really allowed me to buy anything. He prefers to wait until after the shower, which makes sense. But these diaper covers - which usually cost around $15.00-$16.00 - were on sale for $5.00! They're "gently used" but in excellent condition so I really couldn't pass them up. I got four!

Doin' stuff... and takin' pictures of it.

We've been moving things around and throwing a ton of crap away as well as gathering things to donate to Goodwill around here. Alex moved his office into the smaller room a while back (I thought I posted about him doing that but all I could find was where I said he was going to.) We've been trying to decide what to do with my craft stuff. For a while we were looking for a cabinet to store it in... but that would leave me without a workspace. So the decision was made to move my desk into our bedroom and hang a couple of shelves to put my supplies on. I'm not a big fan of non-bedroom stuff in the bedroom but you've got to work with what you've got and what we've got is limited space.

With minimal effort (at least on my part, I layed on the bed and watched...) I wound up with an okay little workspace. Alex is going to bring me a desk chair home.

In an effort to empty out the nursery closet of non-baby stuff, we also cleaned out and organized all of the closets in the house. It. was. awesome. I cleaned out my closet about a month ago and wound up with three or four garbage bags full of clothes to donate. With Alex's closet and the coat closet cleaned out, I've lost track of the bags. We still have some baby stuff that's being stored at Alex's office that I need to sort through, which will result in even more bags.

Yes, that is an exercise trampoline. Those two bags are filled with trash. The pile of crap is headed to Goodwill. That blanket on Puppy's bed is his blanket. He drags it all around the bedroom.

25 week 3 day appointment

I had another doctor's appointment this morning. No news really, except it was my first time meeting Dr. Dutton and I can see why everyone loves her. She's just seems so warm and down to earth. I told her about the time I had to get up to get sick while registering a patient (sometimes the old person smell gets to me..) and she told us a really funny/gross story from her residency.

After we left the doctors office (at 9:00 am... we got out of there really quickly!) we stopped by Jennifer Harris' house to pick up some baby clothes. She gave us a bunch of stuff when I first found out I was pregnant, which is still stored at Alex's office where I kept it for superstitious reasons, and I need to bring it home and sort through it. Today she gave us two big bags of clothes and I took some time to sort through them to see what all I had to work with. Almost everything was worth keeping. A few outfits were out of season (Babys Firsts Chrismas size 12mo), one or two were overly sports themed for my taste (a full pinstriped baseball outfit), and a couple of things were very worn out after being passed down to her then used for both of her boys, but overall a good haul. I love me some hand-me-downs. What's even better is that Jennifer has an affinity for cute little baby boy sweatervests which I just love. He'll look like a little Will Browning circa 2003. Lol!

So at my next appointment I'll have my gestational diabetes test. Please pray that I pass. I was a super-picky eater even before I got pregnant and since I'm still sick my tastes are still pretty limited. I don't know what I would eat if they were limited even more. Rita would have to pack up Kyle and baby Iva and come be my live-in chef for a few months.

One more thing... today I went on and scheduled the rest of my appointments. I only have eight left. 8. EIGHT! That means not a lot. We need to get on the ball with the preparations and such. Please tell my husband to start the nursery.

Before I even knew that I was with child, I knew that I wouldn't be one of those people who took pictures of my expanding belly. I'm a bigger girl, and don't really like the way I look in pictures anyway, so why would I want to subject people to that? But last night as I was getting ready for bed I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and was shocked at what I saw: A pregnant lady. This morning when I woke up and peeked into the mirror she was still there. It's weird. I had to document it.
