My Hair...

....looks ridiculous if I don't straighten it. Which sucks.

P.S. Have I mentioned that I love this kid?

Today when we drove past a cemetery she said she lived there because she was a vampire. And also that if the computer tells you to "Click here and I'll give you whatever you want"... you better not click it because it can put a "zirus" on your computer. There are bad people that want to hurt your computer and give it a zirus.

Carpet Installation... finally.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the carpet installation....

We loaded all of our furniture into a big trailer in the driveway.

That Sunday night, with our bed in pieces, we slept on the air mattress. On Monday, they tried to call and reschedule the installation because the installer's truck wouldn't start. After firmly explaining that all of our furniture was in the driveway and I would be coming to their house to sleep that night, they found a different installer that could make it that day.

Here's Alex's office with the carpet ripped up. I didn't take pictures of the old carpet because Alex took it up while I was at work. Just imagine ugly reddish-purple carpet in here, blue in the bedroom, and nasty stained grey berber in the rest of the house.

Here's the carpet when they first brought it in. Alex was excited...

...laying the new carpet in the office...

I love the new carpet! It gives our house a completely different look and it goes great with our black furniture (coffee table, entertainment center, etc.) And it doesn't smell like a trillion animals have lived here! So, yay! ;]

the one with a ton of photos

Alex and I have Gwenith every other Friday and today was a lot of fun. We started out by playing computer games (nickjr.com could occupy her for hours if I let it) and watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua while Alex baked my birthday cake. He also made a few special cupcakes for Gwenith and she got the decorate them.

Afterward she walked around the house snapping pictures of us and random objects and walls. Yes, I let her use my camera... she wore the neck strap and was very careful and hey, the kid is probably more tech savvy than me, anyway. She already works my laptop like a pro, why not the camera.

(P.S. That's the new carpet and this is probably as close as I'll get to writing the carpet post because I just need to take the "after pictures" and don't ask me why I haven't because I don't know.)

Here are some of the less random pictures that she took.

Okay, the butt one is kinda random... but I thought it was cute.

Then she let me take a couple of pictures of her..

We played outside...

Then we went to the park. She ran Alex ragged and almost made me sick on the swings.

At one point she drew a heart in the sand, crossed it out, and said, "That means hate. I hate the way you love Alex. You're supposed to love me more." I could go all "deeper issues" on you here but I won't. I'll just let you know that I explained how I love them equally, duh.

So anyway... good day. :]

b-day stuff

On my birthday last Saturday, Alex and I celebrated with my parents. My dad cooked spaghetti and insisted on making me a cake.

The cake may not be beautiful, but it was tasty! Dad didn't let it cool long enough and it wound up cracking all over the place. He tried to fill the cracks with icing but wound up leaving the rest of the cake iced pretty thin. This provided plenty of opportunity for teasing him the entire night.

I had my new camera, of course, so I took a ton of pictures of my their new doggy, Bella.

She is incredibly cute and sweet but terribly hyper. Sometimes I wish Puppy would play with toys and things but I'm glad he's not as crazy as her! She never gets tired or worn out!

It was a nice, chill, relaxing kind of birthday. My party with Alex's family is on Saturday and I'm looking forward to that! I'll be having a joint party with Alex's dad.

In non-birthday related news, I devoured the first Harry Potter book in a few days and cannot wait to pick up the second one tomorrow! I also want to get the first movie. We have several errands to run tomorrow including shopping for a birthday present for Alex's dad (Yes, late minute as always). We'll have Gwenith and I'm hoping that we'll get everything done. She's very well-behaved in stores and such but anytime we're in the car for more than three minutes, she begins asking, "Are we there yet? How much longer until we get there? Is it very far? We've been driving forever! Are we there yet?" I've been trying to come up with ways to distract her in the car... if only we had a portable DVD player!

Falling Slowly

So, yesterday, while I was at church, I picked up JD's acoustic guitar and just started playing this song.  The song is titled Falling Slowly.  It was written for the movie "Once" by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.  In 2008 it won a Grammy for Best Song Written for Motion Picture and an Academy Award for Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures.  I'm sure many of you have heard it before.  Here's a live version from Letterman.  Enjoy.

Puppy got a haircut.

We decided to have Puppy's hair cut short for the first time ever. When I picked him up from the groomers I just wanted to squish his little face because he looked SO CUTE! So of course I took a bajillion pictures with my baller new Nikon D40x.

My New Effort

So, in an attempt to reclaim my half of this web log I have decided to reinstall the Flock web browser. It has an integrated blog editor, thus limiting my excuse to not blog. I'm hoping to post random pictures a few times a week. You'd be really surprised at how much stuff I come across over the course of my simple, often secluded day.

This is a picture from Porter Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. I personally, found a great deal of humor in the concept of a multipurpose room covering those two tasks. I was there for the Annual KBC Evangelism Conference. Speaking of work, we've recently created a new theme for our website. We still need some more visual content, but that will come with time. You can check us out here. Let us know what you think.

I guess that's all for now. Thanks for reading

Alex

in case you didn't know

Sometimes I like to leave sweet little notes on friends' cars just in case they're having a bad day and need a bit of cheer.

Hey internet... this is the note on your windshield in case you needed to hear it:

I ♥ You. :]

P.S. Happy Birthday, April

Bring it on.

I usually try to hold off complaining about winter for as long as possible. But it is March and I am freezing. March 20th cannot come soon enough! Bring on the SPRINGTIME!

In other news... my birthday is in less than a week. This one really snuck up on me. I'm going to be 22. Before Alex and I got married we said that we were going to wait to have kids until I reached the ripe old age of 22 and he was 25. I'm not going to make this post about fertility woes... but maybe now is the time. I hope, anyway.

I've gotten some of my creativity back lately. The woman that sent me that sweet card the other day is our Children's minister and I imagine that she sends out lots of sweet cards to people that need them. So, I made her a set of ten different cards. There are a couple of thank you cards and one baby card, I think. The rest are just cute cards with blank space inside to write a nice note. I can't wait to give them to her and it felt great to be creative again. I haven't really done any sort of crafting in a while.

Well, we're headed out the door to grab some lunch and go to Sam's. I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and enjoys what's left of it!

OH YEAH! I got projectile vomited on last night while I was babysitting and managed to clean everything up and keep my good mood. I was no worse than getting peed on at the circus! haha!
