My name is Cassie. Wife to Alex. Mom to Sam.

When Sam was 4 months old he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer. This blog became my outlet to share, vent, keep people informed, and document our lives throughout his treatment.

When Sam finished treatment this project sort of fell to the wayside. I'm making an effort revive this space and to start documenting those everyday moments again!

We love God.
We love each other.

My new effort

So, in an effort to blog more often, I've decided to bring strange and unusual songs to your attention.  I hope to do this atleast once a week.  Here's one to start with.  The band is called Focus.  The song is Hocus Pocus.  Enjoy!

My Unleashed Force

So, sometimes I'll be sitting at home with my laptop, watching t.v., and become extremely bored. I surf the internet a lot, and I like to think that I'm always up to date with the latest applications for web browsing and email client services. In the past I would switch my web browser quite frequently. I got stuck using Flock for about a year. I thought it was great, 'cause it is. But there are still some bugs in it, and it has quite the memory leak.  I wanted the fastest browser I could find.

So, today I downloaded Opera.  I couldn't be happier, or atleast for now.  I think that the change of scenery is really what makes me happy.

I also switched back to Thunderbird today.  Thunderbird is an email app similar to Microsoft Outlook.  I used it for about a year before stumbling upon Zimbra.  I had a few problems with Zimbra.  First of all, it is huge.  Plus, it runs in the background all the time.  And if you force quit the app you have to restart your computer to get it to work again.  So, it got the boot today when i reverted to Thunderbird.

Ofcourse all of this means nothing to you, the reader.  This blog post is mainly to test my RSS feeder in Opera.

Thanks for reading anyways.  Here's a random picture of Phil playing Force Unleashed.

take a whiff

When I stopped at the gas station on my way to school the other morning I saw this awesome candle.

I really almost died. I had to take a picture with my phone.

Another random thing. I use these awesome rubber finger things for work and sometimes I bring them home in my pocket by accident. Puppy seems to think they're treats and if I take them out of my pocket and put them somewhere visible he starts freaking. He's such a weirdo.

puzzleness

Alex has worked yet another puzzle. This time he did it all alone. I mean... I found like two pieces, but that doesn't really count. The cool thing about this one is that every piece has at least one straight edge. So you can't separate the edge pieces from the others! Ack!

The plan is to frame it and hang it in the office.

Difficulty Level: Extreme. Nerd Level: Super Extreme

P.S. I apologize for the quality of the photos. My camera is crapping out and I'm really hoping for a new one from Santa!

just a little political

Look... I don't want to get all political over here. It's not my thing. I'm not looking for a debate or an argument. For the record, I don't care who you vote for as long as you take the time to make an informed decision. Know why you're voting for someone. Don't vote one way because your parents said to, or your friends said to. Take some time to do a little research for yourself.

P.S. I just wanted to provide a link to this article.

couple of cards

I've hardly had time for any sort of crafting for pure enjoyment lately. But special occasions call for cards.

Alex's mom's birthday party is today...

And I made a card for someone that recently had a baby. I don't think I'll say their name on here because I'm not really sure who all reads this thing. Maybe I should wait to post about cards until after I've given them to people. Oh well...

ready for a comeback

I cannot wait to see Britney perform at the VMAs on Sunday! I hope she doesn't mess it up this time!
